As a manager, leader, and operator with over 30 years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of training, developing, and guiding teams at every level of management—from frontline employees to senior and general managers. What I’ve enjoyed most is mentoring and teaching others, helping them understand how to interpret and apply policies, observe their work environment, and create procedures that foster consistency and improve performance. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch people grow into confident leaders.

If the staff doesn’t bother to say hello or thank you, it’s another indication of poor management. Slow and substandard services? That’s another example of poor management. When salespeople start complaining about their coworkers or managers, it raises a red flag for poor management. And if the manager doesn’t greet you with a smile, that’s yet another example of poor management. Do you notice people consistently arriving late or assignments being turned in late? That’s also poor management. Are staff members frequently covering for others? That too is poor management. If the manager works harder than their subordinates, it’s also an indication of poor management.
